Integritetspolicy för Stigvidd
Senast uppdaterad: 20 september 2026
Svenska · In English
2. Vilka uppgifter vi behandlar och varför
| Uppgift | Vad det är | Varför | Rättslig grund |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kontouppgifter | Användarnamn, e-postadress, lösenord (lagras krypterat/hashat i vår inloggningstjänst) | Skapa och hantera ditt konto, logga in, återställa lösenord | Avtal (art. 6.1 b) |
| Innehåll du skapar | Inspelade vandringar (rutt, sträcka, tid, datum), bilder du laddar upp, recensioner och betyg, rapporterade hinder, favoriter och önskelista | Leverera appens funktioner | Avtal (art. 6.1 b) |
5. Hur länge vi sparar uppgifterna
- Konto och innehåll: tills du raderar ditt konto. Du raderar kontot själv i appen under Profil → Avsluta konto.
Lösenord lagras aldrig i klartext.
Privacy Policy for Stigvidd
Last updated: 20 September 2026
På svenska · English
Stigvidd ("we", "us" or "the app") respects your privacy. This policy describes what data we process, why, how long it is kept and what rights you have. The rules for how you may use the app are set out in the terms of use.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controllers responsible for the processing of personal data in Stigvidd are Therese Lindberg and Ralf Lindberg, private individuals, Sweden. Stigvidd is run by two people, not a company – "we" in this text refers to them.
We are joint controllers. This means you may turn to either of us to exercise your rights, and that you may exercise them against both of us.
Contact: info@stigvidd.se, which reaches both of us. If you need a postal address in order to exercise your rights, we will provide one on request.
2. What data we process and why
| Data | What it is | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account data | Username, email address, password (stored hashed in our identity service) | Create and manage your account, sign in, reset your password | Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Location data | GPS coordinates recorded while you register a walk – including when the screen is off or the app is in the background. Your current position when you open the home screen, view the map or filter by “near me” | Draw your route, show where you are on the map, sort trails by distance, show the weather and the name of the place you are in on the home screen | Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Content you create | Recorded walks (route, distance, time, date), images you upload, reviews and ratings, reported obstacles, favourites and wish list | Provide the features of the app | Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Social data | Friend requests, friend list, which walks you have shared and with whom | The friends and sharing features | Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Push token | An anonymous device identifier from Apple/Google if you allow notifications | Send notifications about friend requests and shared walks | Your consent (can be turned off in your phone settings) |
| Technical data | IP address, timestamp and error messages in server logs | Operation, troubleshooting and security | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
We use no advertising, marketing tracking or profiling. We never sell your data and we do not share it for marketing purposes.
If you agree to it, we collect usage statistics – which features are used and whether they work – so that we can improve the app. We ask you in the app, you can decline, and you can change your mind at any time under Settings → Privacy. The statistics never include your position, are kept for 7 days on our own servers within the EU, and are not shared with any third party.
Error reports – records that something went wrong in the app or on the server – are collected even if you decline the statistics, because they are needed to keep the service working and secure (legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f)). They never include your position either, and are deleted after 7 days.
You decide whether the app may use your location, through the permission in your phone settings. Before we ask the first time, the app explains what the location is used for. Your position is only recorded while you are actively registering a walk.
On the home screen your position leaves the phone for two lookups: the weather is fetched from SMHI, and the name of the place you are in is looked up by the phone's own map service (Apple on iPhone, Google on Android). The position is rounded before it is sent to SMHI, and it is not stored by us. See section 4.
When you save a walk you can trim away the beginning and the end of the route before it is stored – for example if you started recording at home.
When you upload an image we automatically remove hidden metadata (EXIF), including any GPS coordinates, before the image is saved.
3. What other users can see
- Your username is shown to other users, for example on reviews and friend requests. Obstacle reports are always shown without a name.
- Your email address is never shown to other users.
- Your recorded walks are private until you choose to share them with someone. The person you share with sees the whole route, including the start and end points.
- Resharing requires your permission. When you share a walk you also decide whether the recipient may share it onwards. The choice applies to that recipient – if you share the same walk with several people, you decide for each of them. Without your permission the recipient cannot reshare the walk in the app.
- The chain stops after one step. Someone who receives a walk through a reshare cannot share it onwards in turn.
- Reviews, ratings and obstacle reports you write are visible to all users of the app.
Whoever has received a shared walk keeps it. We can control what the app passes on, but not what a recipient does with a route they have already seen – think it through before you share, especially if the walk starts at your home.
4. Who else processes the data
- Hostup, servers in Sweden – hosting of the database, API and image storage.
- MapTiler – delivers map imagery. Your IP address is sent to MapTiler when the map loads.
- SMHI, servers in Sweden – delivers the weather on the home screen. Your position is sent there, rounded to four decimals (about ten metres).
- Apple and Google respectively – translate your position into a place name on the home screen. The lookup is made by the phone's own map service: Apple on iPhone, Google on Android.
- Apple Push Notification service, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Expo – deliver push notifications to your device, if you have allowed notifications.
- Expo – also delivers app updates. The app asks Expo's servers for updates when it starts, and your IP address is sent there when it does. This happens whether or not you have allowed notifications.
Your data is stored in Sweden, and the weather is fetched from SMHI's Swedish servers. The other recipients above are located elsewhere: map imagery is delivered by MapTiler, established in Switzerland, a country the European Commission has found to provide an adequate level of protection. Push notifications, app updates and the place-name lookup go via Apple, Google and Expo, which process data in the United States – for them the transfer relies on the European Commission's adequacy decision (EU–US Data Privacy Framework) for those providers certified under the framework, and otherwise on standard contractual clauses. Push notifications are only sent if you have allowed them.
5. How long we keep the data
- Account and content: until you delete your account. You delete the account yourself in the app under Profile → Delete account. Your account and your data are then removed from both the app database and the identity service.
- Walks you have deleted: removed immediately, together with the images you added. A walk you have shared with someone remains with the recipients even if you delete it or close your account – it is then detached from you, and the information about who created it is removed. It is deleted for good when the last recipient has removed it.
- Reviews: if you delete your own review it disappears entirely, rating and all. If you close your account the rating and the date are kept but detached from you – the review text and images are deleted and the name is removed. What remains is a rating on a trail, with no link to any person.
- Obstacle reports: shown for at most 30 days, or until three users have marked the obstacle as resolved, and deleted after that. If you close your account before then, the report is detached from you and the description is removed – the category, the location and the date remain so that others know what was reported. If you chose the category "Other" the description is kept, since the report would otherwise mean nothing.
- Usage statistics and error reports: 7 days.
- Server logs: 7 days.
- Backups: overwritten within 49 days after deletion.
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- know what data we hold about you and receive a copy of it
- have inaccurate data corrected
- have your data erased – you delete the account yourself in the app, and the deletion page explains what is removed and what remains
- request restriction of, or object to, the processing
- receive your data in a machine-readable format (data portability)
- withdraw your consent to notifications at any time – turn off the permission in your phone settings. This does not affect processing that has already taken place.
Contact info@stigvidd.se and we will respond within one month.
If you believe we process your data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se.
7. Age limit
Stigvidd is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 13, you should not create an account.
8. Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Only we who run the service have access to the servers.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The latest version is always available at stigvidd.se/privacy-policy/ and in the app under Settings → About Stigvidd.
